Toffee Saltine Cracker Cookies

Or “Christmas Crack”

This is a super simple but delicious treat. During the holidays and the entire year. Only 5 ingredients!


  • 50 saltine crackers (a sleeve and half)
  • 1 cup of butter (2 sticks)
  • 1 packed cup of dark brown sugar
  • 1 12 oz bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup of chopped pecans (optional)


  • Preheat oven 350 degrees F
  • Line cookie sheet with foil
  • Grease foil with cooking spray or butter (this is very important)
  • Line cookie sheet with one layer of saltine crackers
  • Melt butter in sauce pan on medium
  • Once butter is melted stir in brown sugar
  • Bring butter and brown sugar mixture to a boil and let boil for 3 minutes
  • Cover the saltine crackers with the mixture and use a knife to cover every cracker
  • Place cookie sheet in the oven for 5 minutes (or until the mixture is bubbly)
  • Remove from oven and pour chocolate chocolate chips over the crackers. Let stand for 5 minutes
  • Use a spatula to spread the chocolate
  • Optional–add pecans or crushed candy canes on top of melted chocolate
  • Place cookie sheet in the refrigerator for one hour
  • Remove from the refrigerator and lift foil off of the cookie sheet and break apart
  • Store in a sealable container in the refrigerator
